Why Choose Great Northern Cat Skiing As Your Revelstoke Cat Ski Operator?

The ride up the mountain is part of the Great Northern Snowcat experience!  We have added two new snowcats to its fleet: a Pisten Bully 600 and a Pisten Bully 400 Edge, joining our two reliable Pisten Bully 300s, Delta and Beta—the Ferraris of snowcats. We operate two heated snowcats with comfortable seats.

Our snowcats can ascend Great Northern and Thompson mountains, even in heavy snowfall, ensuring epic days on the slopes.  The 15 to 20-minute snowcat rides between runs are the perfect amount of time to share powder stories, warm up, and enjoy a homemade snack. We'll take care of loading your gear at the bottom of each run and unloading it at the top of the next one. All you need to focus on is making your turns.

Our snowcat operators make sure their cats operate safely, and each morning undergo a thorough inspection.

Great Northern occupies a 75 square-kilometer (7,500 hectares) area of snow-covered forest in the Bad Shot Range. The variety of terrain is the best part about skiing here. With forest glades, wide-open powder bowls, gullies, and chutes, we can cater to skiers of intermediate to expert level.

Since 1979, we’ve skied every ridge and gully to find the best snow in all types of conditions. Great Northern Mountain features rolling alpine meadows at the top, which lead down into steep, perfectly spaced glades. The runs on Mount Thompson are wide open and north-facing, making them ideal later in the season as they remain out of the sun.

Our Lodge offers 18 cozy rooms, a combination of three single rooms, three double-bed rooms, six queen-bed rooms, and six rooms with two single beds. Each room features an ensuite bathroom with a shower/bathtub, a hair dryer, extra blankets, and other essentials.

On the dining side, going hungry is not an option! We offer rustic elegance, winter comfort food, and home-cooked meals with communal lodge dining. Experience the rich flavors created through smoke and fire. We challenge you to resist our smoked wild sockeye salmon, chicken, or ribs.

On your first ski day with Great Northern, our guiding team will conduct a safety orientation with you. Before you drop in for your first run, we will teach you how to use essential equipment for emergencies and how to avoid hazards on the slopes. Each guest will be provided with an avalanche transceiver, backpack, probe, shovel & radio. Additionally, every guest will receive training on snowcat safety procedures.

Our guides and snowcat drivers meet every morning to discuss avalanche safety and snow stability, and they will continuously monitor snow conditions throughout the day. The lodge staff, the guides, and the snowcat drivers maintain communication by radio and satellite phone. We carry extensive rescue equipment on each snowcat, in addition to the essential items each guide carries in their pack.

For transportation and shuttles to Great Northern Snowcat Skiing, you can explore both private and public shuttles departing from the Kelowna airport.
