The Best Places to Eat at Big White - Our Top 4 Picks

When you’re at Big White Ski Resort, after a big day of activities, you’re going to want some good food to refuel. Luckily, there are tons of delicious spots to choose from, all with different price ranges, cuisines, and vibes.

If you’re on the hill for an epic day of skiing or snowboarding and wondering where the best places to eat at Big White are, we’re here to help with some of our top picks.

As frequent local ski pass holders over the years, we’ve eaten our way around the hill and definitely have a few favourites. From fine dining to epic breakfasts and casual places to grab some food and an après drink, there’s a little bit of everything.

So, we’re covering four of our favourite restaurants to check out when visiting Big White Ski Resort.

Fat Marmot

We’re starting with one of our favourite spots for cozy comfort food that’s perfect for a winter day on the hill, Fat Marmot.

If you’re a ramen fan, you’re definitely going to want to check this place out. Because what’s better than a hot bowl of ramen at the end of a cold winter day on the slopes? Pretty much nothing, which is exactly what earned this spot a place on our list of the best places to eat at Big White.

Fat Marmot is known for both its ramen and fried chicken. We’re talking bold broths, thick noodles, and delicious crispy and juicy Korean fried chicken. Because just when you thought ramen couldn’t get any better, they went and paired it with fried chicken.

The ramen portions are generous too, making for a filling meal after a full day of activities on the mountain.

Fat Marmot offers several styles of ramen to satisfy different cravings, including Tamari Tonkotsu, Black Garlic Tonkotsu, Shio Tori Paitan, Spicy Sesame Tori Paitan, and a vegetarian miso option.

A meal here will typically cost around $15 to $30 CAD per person, depending on what you order.

They also have a great drink selection, including a portfolio of local B.C. wines that pair perfectly with a meal at Big White. You can find wines from Okanagan producers alongside cocktails, beer, coffee, specialty coffee drinks, and plenty of non-alcoholic options.

Fat Marmot is run by the same team behind Underground Pizza and 6 Degrees Bistro, so they’re certainly no strangers to the Big White dining scene.

Located at the Inn at Big White, it’s also super easy to get to from the village. Pop your skis into the rack out front and step inside to warm up.

There are two sides to the establishment. The Fat Marmot Lounge & Sports Bar offers a larger and more casual atmosphere with an awesome outdoor patio, while the Ramen Bar is smaller, cozy, and more modern.

Both are great options, but if ramen is what brought you here, we recommend heading to the Ramen Bar. We also love the quieter and more intimate atmosphere on this side. If you’re looking for somewhere to end your ski day with an après drink instead, the Lounge & Sports Bar and its patio are hard to beat.

Snowshoe Sam’s

Our second pick for the best places to eat at Big White is the famous and classic Snowshoe Sam’s.

Known for some of the best après events on the mountain, this lively spot has an eccentric and quirky cabin-like vibe that’s perfect for having some fun with your friends while grabbing a great bite to eat.

Snowshoe Sam’s has been part of the Big White scene for decades and has earned plenty of recognition over the years as a ski bar. It’s easily one of the liveliest spots on the mountain to hang out, grab some food, and enjoy a few drinks with friends.

The vibe is like an eclectic classic pub meets an on-mountain ski cabin, all wrapped into one. Picture signs everywhere, from metal plaques to neon lights, string lights, ski decor, artwork, and perfectly mismatched furniture that somehow brings the entire place together.

The atmosphere is very casual and can definitely get loud, especially when there’s an event happening. That’s part of the fun.

Typically, a meal here will run you around $20 to $30 CAD per person, which makes it a relatively approachable option for dining on the mountain.

And don’t let the casual vibes fool you. This place knows how to serve up some seriously good comfort food.

You’ll find classic après favourites like poutine, spinach and artichoke dip, smash burgers, hot dogs, pizzas, salads, and vegetarian options.

There’s also a great selection of local draft beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks.

Overall, if you’re looking for somewhere with great food, high-energy vibes, and a classic ski-town atmosphere, Snowshoe Sam’s is a great spot to eat and après at Big White.

BullWheel

Located in the heart of Big White Village is BullWheel, one of our favourite spots for breakfast and brunch that also has plenty of great lunch and dinner options.

Tucked right into the mountain as you head toward the Bullet Express, you’ll find this modern and cozy restaurant before making your way down to the chairlift.

That makes it a great place to start your morning or stop for a midday bite before clicking back into your skis and hitting the slopes again.

Their breakfast menu features options like classic breakfast sandwiches, vegan breakfast sandwiches, an açaí bowl, smashed avocado toast, and gluten-free choices.

As the day goes on, the menu expands into plenty of delicious casual bites and heartier meals, with options like wings, coconut shrimp, salads, bowls, sandwiches, burgers, and more.

Dinner brings even more options for anyone looking to settle in for a proper meal after finishing their day on the mountain.

Menus can change throughout the season, so we recommend checking out their latest offerings when planning your visit.

A meal here will typically range from around $15 to $30 CAD, making BullWheel another more approachable option for food at Big White Ski Resort.

It’s also a great spot if you’re dining with a bigger crew during or after a day on the slopes. The restaurant has a more modern feel while still keeping that cozy mountain atmosphere, complete with views of all the action happening outside.

Sopra Italian Kitchen

Picture this: after a big day of skiing or snowboarding, you’re cozied up inside a warm mountain restaurant being fuelled by Italian comfort food. That’s the vibe at Sopra Italian Kitchen.

While it’s not exactly a cabin, it certainly feels like one. The wood-filled interior and thoughtful decor give the restaurant the feeling of a European ski hut transformed into a cozy Italian dining spot.

Sopra is a little more elevated compared to some of the casual pubs and dining options on the mountain, making it a great choice when you want to slow things down and have a nice dinner.

The menu features Italian favourites like whipped ricotta, pizzas, pastas, and, of course, desserts like tiramisu.

If you’re looking for something a little cozier and more elevated for dinner, Sopra gives you the best of both worlds. You still get those warm ski-hill vibes, just paired with Italian comfort food and a slightly more refined dining experience.

Dining here will typically be a little more expensive than the casual restaurants on this list, so it’s worth checking the current menu and pricing when planning your night.

Overall, if you’re craving Italian food and want some cozy mountain vibes to go along with it, Sopra Italian Kitchen is a great choice for dinner while staying at Big White.

Picking the Best Place to Eat at Big White

There are tons of amazing food options at Big White, with different cuisines, vibes, and price ranges to choose from. Hopefully, sharing a few of our favourites makes deciding where to refuel after a day on the mountain a little easier.

And once you have your accommodations, ski days, and restaurant wish list figured out, there’s still the question of how you’re getting up the mountain.

If you’re travelling through Kelowna, Kelowna Transfers offers public and private shuttle options between Kelowna and Big White Ski Resort, including pickups from Kelowna International Airport.

Then all that’s left to do is get up the mountain, hit the slopes, and decide which of these spots you’re trying first.  Enjoy!
