Top 5 Things To Do in Revelstoke in Winter: Attractions, Activities, and More

Revelstoke is a year-round destination with lots of amazing things to do. Revelstoke offers gorgeous views, amazing attractions, and is an activity heaven for those looking to get some exercise in the funnest ways, all within the backyard of this mountain town.

Even the small town of Revelstoke has a little bit of everything you need. From amazing restaurants, cafés, art galleries, and museums to epic ski hills, mountain biking, and more, there’s plenty to explore. We’re here to cover 5 of the top things to do in Revelstoke in winter, from fun indoor activities to winter sports and more!

Skiing and Snowboarding at Revelstoke Mountain Resort

First things first, we have to get the obvious out of the way when it comes to the top things to do in Revelstoke.

Of course, Revelstoke is known for its world-class skiing. People from all over the world, especially from Australia, New Zealand, and Japan, travel to Revelstoke Mountain Resort, as it’s known for its world-famous powder, epically steep slopes, and wide variety of terrain.

Revelstoke Mountain Resort is the local ski hill. Although it has skiing for all levels, it’s especially alluring to those who are intermediate to advanced skiers. With amazing tree skiing, advanced and diverse terrain, as well as hike-in areas that allow for fresh turns, like the North Bowl, South Bowl, and Greely Bowl, there’s tons of terrain to explore.

Revelstoke Mountain Resort is such a beautiful skiing destination, regarded for snow that is both deep and great fluffy quality, that it hosts major international competitions, including YETI Natural Selection SNOW, which is a premier global snowboarding competition.

Revelstoke Mountain Resort is also home to the longest ski run in British Columbia and all of North America, called The Last Spike. It is 15.2 kilometres (9.4 miles) long.

The resort is also known for being the trifecta of skiing. It’s one of the only resorts on the planet where you can go lift skiing, cat skiing, heli-skiing, and backcountry touring, all operating out of the same base in the village.

Something that makes Revelstoke Mountain Resort extra special is its outdoor, skiable art gallery, known as the Revelstoke Outdoor Art Movement (ROAM), which offers gorgeous alpine viewpoints, scenic gondola rides, and unforgettable mountaintop experiences, including this art gallery.

Hidden around the resort, there are tons of amazing art installations, including art from local artist Turbo Bambi located at the ski park along the sides of the features, as well as upcycled sculptures made from old ski and snowboard equipment.

One of our favourite places to go is the art gallery of upcycled ski and snowboard gear that’s been made to replicate classic, iconic paintings with a cultural twist. It’s located close to the Stoke Chair, just to the skier's left of the park, tucked into the trees.

These are all self-guided tours, so if you need any help finding where the gallery is located, don’t be afraid to talk to one of the kind staff members or lifties who can offer you directions. Your best bet may be to head to the Stoke Chair and ask a liftie from there, as that lift is the closest to it.

Overall, if you’re looking for a great winter activity when visiting Revelstoke, you’ve got to try skiing or snowboarding! It’s such a beautiful experience, from the views to the fun on the terrain. You’ll likely want to keep coming back time and time again for more, as there always feels like there’s more to explore on this hill.

Shop at The Local Art Co-op

Another great winter activity in Revelstoke is to go shopping, or window-shopping as we call it, while viewing the many offerings around the city. One of the best, and our personal favourite, places to shop is The Local Art Co-op.

Combining both a local art gallery and shop, you can enjoy browsing and shopping from the local artists who showcase their artwork here. Whether you’re looking to spruce up your home with some new artwork, get a greeting card for a friend or family member back home, or find a lil memento from your trip, this is a great place to stop in at.

This shop is also a local co-op collective of artists based in Revelstoke, BC, showcasing a diverse range of locally made creations. From prints and paintings to photography, blown glass (something Revelstoke is known for), woodwork, ceramics, and pottery, there’s tons of talent in the local art community.

If you’re looking for iconic Revelstoke stickers and art prints, The Local Art Co-op is a great place to go! With tons of different artists' artwork hosted under one roof, you’re sure to find an art style that tickles your fancy.

Local artists whose work is displayed at this shop include the iconic Turbo Bambi. If you ski at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, you’ll find her work all around the hill, including on park features like the sides of the rails, as well as in the iconic area nicknamed “Yam Town,” which features cute little creatures from the artist's universe.

You can find “Yam Town” located close to the Tally-Ho Glades, but see more specific instructions for that in the Skiing and Snowboarding at Revelstoke Mountain Resort section.

Other local artists you can find at this shop include Birdie Love (one of my favourites, I have a few of her prints myself!), Big Eddy Glass Works, Hayley Stewart, Marie Moose, Rod Aspeslet, Sheramic, and Matt Timmins.

Overall, on a cozy winter day in Revelstoke, shopping at The Local Art Co-op offers a warm, inviting space with a burst of colours to brighten up a cold winter’s day.

Quartzite Climbing Gym LTD.

If you’re looking for an indoor activity to get a workout in during the winter, Quartzite Climbing Gym LTD. is a great place for all ages.

Quartzite Climbing Gym LTD. is Revelstoke’s first and only indoor bouldering gym. They have kids and youth passes, along with their regular adult pricing, offering something great for the whole family.

The space itself is considered small to medium-sized for a bouldering gym and offers a great variety of problems. Problems are what climbers call the short bouldering routes that a climber must figure out and solve using specific body movements, holds, and techniques.

Being a locally owned climbing gym, it’s praised for its welcoming atmosphere and new, up-to-date equipment. The routes are regarded as challenging but very fun, and this spot is known for having great staff around who are there to help give you beta or assist you with shoe rentals and other climbing needs.

There is a great range of holds, including some that are even made from real rock! If you’re a rock climber or looking to try something new and challenge yourself, bouldering is a great winter activity.

5 Pin Bowling at Cantina Del Centro

Another great winter activity in Revelstoke brings together two amazing worlds, delicious Mexican food and bowling, into one spot!

Cantina Del Centro offers a great selection of Mexican food, including tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, queso, and don’t forget about the epic guacamole, salsa, and chips.

Before or after enjoying a delicious meal from Cantina Del Centro, you’ll have to check out their 5 pin bowling, which offers 8 lanes and up to 6 players per lane.

The bowling alley was built in 1962 and offers a classic retro feel that makes bowling feel both fun and timeless. It’s truly a vibe in the winter and a great place to even après and have some fun with your friends and family!

The bowling alley offers table service, so you can eat and drink while you bowl, with menus available at the lanes for you to choose from.

We recommend booking ahead of time, especially during the winter season, which is peak season. Although, they do reserve about half the bowling alley for walk-in guests.

Overall, 5 Pin Bowling at Cantina Del Centro is such a vibe. It’s a great way to grab some grub, a delicious drink (with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options), and have some fun bowling with true retro vibes.

The Sound Cellar

Did you know that Revelstoke has its own speakeasy-vibe music venue? Yup, and it can only be accessed through an alleyway door. With live music, a bar, and specialty cocktails, The Sound Cellar is truly a special place to enjoy a night of music.

This is a new music venue and is regarded as an inclusive, multi-use space in downtown Revelstoke, dedicated to supporting learners and musicians. They offer lessons, rehearsal spaces, live music, and space rentals for events.

We highly recommend checking out their live music if you’re looking for a great winter outing in Revelstoke. You can find their upcoming events on their website, and they host a wide variety of musicians. We’re not talking about typical live music either. Their wide variety can include everything from piano and guitar to cello, vocals, and much more.

This spot is owned and operated by Arts Revelstoke, which offers year-round programs and events, including festivals, public art projects, and new art experiences. It’s also definitely worth checking out their events through their website, as they often have great experiences perfect for warming up and viewing some art.

Overall, The Sound Cellar is a great spot to warm up, grab a drink, and listen to some live music, and we’d highly recommend checking it out this winter!

The Magic of a Winter in Revelstoke

Revelstoke is one of the most beautiful destinations in British Columbia, if not the world, in winter. It offers a cute and cozy mountain-town feel without sacrificing the fun that comes with being in town.

From local attractions and activities to amazing venues, delicious food, and world-renowned sports and activities, Revelstoke has a little bit of everything.

It’s hard to beat a ski trip, or even an overall winter trip, to Revelstoke.
